Nonprofit Housing Organization of Northern California (NPH) held its annual housing conference on September 30 in San Francisco, California where CCH Vice President of Real Estate Development Kathleen Mertz served as a panelist at a key session. The title of the session was Recapitalizing your HUD Properties: New Opportunities on the Horizon. Kathleen served on the panel with Alexa Jeffress, US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Dave Kiddoo, California Housing Partnership and Robert Mills, Goldfarb & Lipman LLP.
The topic centered on aging HUD-financed properties in need of recapitalizing with plans to renovate their communities and preserve affordable housing. Special emphasis was placed on RAD including Section 8 Mod Rehab Single Residents Occupancy (SRO) and Section 202s with PRACs.
Kathleen shares, “It’s imperative that we continue to make de-mystify the process of securing layered financing to help more communities take advantage of the current options available to them. In doing so, we help them build confidence and take the next steps needed to help preserve their affordable housing for future generations.”
