CCH President and CEO Don Stump served as the keynote speaker at the annual conference of the Southwest Affordable Housing Management Association (SW-AHMA) held in San Antonio, Texas and later in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The title of the presentation was Protecting Your Affordable Housing: Challenges, Options and Solutions. Many of today’s affordable housing communities are faced with numerous challenges including the maintenance of an aging property. Some find their building requires serious repair in order to meet current codes, increase safety and ensure its longevity.
The landscape and process for securing funds to improve housing communities has changed significantly in the last two decades. Today, knowledge of tax credit and multi-layered financing is necessary. Success also depends on the ability to navigate through the requirements of regulatory agencies and private investors. Thus, Don shared his insights with his audience comprised of property managers, board members and affordable housing industry professionals. It was well-received by attendees. Don comments, “I hope to reach more decision makers and influencers to convey that renovation of your community is possible.
